The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform is seeking online AFOQT tutors nationally. As a tutor on our platform, you will have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a significant impact on students’ academic success. All tutoring is conducted remotely from your home.

What We Look For In an AFOQT Tutor

• Advanced Test Mastery:
  • Deep knowledge of all AFOQT sections, including Verbal Analogies, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Math Knowledge, Reading Comprehension, Situational Judgment, Self-Description Inventory, Physical Science, Table Reading, Instrument Comprehension, and Block Counting.
  • Ability to explain composite score calculations and Air Force officer selection requirements.
  • Proficiency in preparing candidates for competitive military aviation and officer career qualifications.
• Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving:
  • Skilled at teaching spatial reasoning, instrument reading interpretation, and quantitative problem-solving strategies specifically for the AFOQT.
  • Ability to guide students through verbal analogy patterns, arithmetic word problems, table reading speed techniques, block counting visualization, and physical science review.
  • Emphasis on targeting the pilot and navigator composite scores through focused preparation on instrument comprehension and table reading sections.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction:
  • Familiarity with AFOQT content areas and common challenges (e.g., instrument comprehension visualization, table reading speed requirements, physical science content gaps).
  • Ability to adapt instruction using practice tests, spatial reasoning drills, and timed section exercises.
  • Experience supporting Air Force ROTC cadets and officer candidates preparing for competitive composite scores on the AFOQT examination.
• Effective Teaching Methods:
  • Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with.
  • Capacity to explain material using multiple approaches.
  • Skill in adapting instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
