What We Look For In a Physical Science Tutor

  • Advanced Subject Mastery:
    • Deep knowledge of mechanics, energy, waves, electricity, magnetism, atomic structure, chemical reactions, periodic table, states of matter, and basic thermodynamics.
    • Ability to explain Newton’s laws, energy transformations, wave properties, and chemical bonding fundamentals.

    • Guides students through hands-on experiments, interpreting graphs of motion, calculating speed and acceleration, and classifying chemical reactions.
    • Emphasizes building scientific inquiry skills and conceptual understanding, connecting physical science to technology, engineering applications, and everyday phenomena.
  • Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction:
    • Familiar with physical science curricula covering introductory physics and chemistry topics.
    • Awareness of common challenges such as understanding abstract force concepts, distinguishing physical from chemical changes, and applying mathematical formulas to science problems.
    • Adapts instruction using laboratory demonstrations, visual simulations, and scaffolded problem sets to support middle and early high school students building foundational science skills.
  • Effective Teaching Methods:
    • Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with.
    • Capability to explain material using multiple approaches and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
    • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
    • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
