The Tone:
This is a freelance tutor position at Varsity Tutors, located remotely. Varsity Tutors operates a Live Learning Platform that connects thousands of students nationally with online IB Business & Management tutors. Leveraging advanced technology, AI, and learning science, the company builds personalized learning experiences designed to help students achieve their academic goals. In this role, you will significantly contribute to students’ academic success and understanding by providing customized instruction, fostering a passion for learning, and preparing them for critical examinations, all from the comfort of your home.

• Mission: Deliver personalized, expert-level IB Business Management tutoring to students, empowering them to master complex concepts and excel in their internal assessments and final examinations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Provide personalized, one-on-one online instruction to individual students across the full IB Business & Management curriculum.
• Demystify: Explain complex IB Business Management concepts clearly, including stakeholder analysis, ratio analysis, marketing mix applications, and operations strategies for both Standard (SL) and Higher Levels (HL).
• Prepare: Guide students effectively through IB internal assessments, extended essays, and final examinations, utilizing case study analysis, financial ratio interpretation, and strategic recommendation development.
• Adapt: Adjust teaching methods and resources—such as past IB examination papers and mark scheme analysis—to address common student challenges and cater to diverse individual learning needs and styles.
• Support: Connect with students through instant tutoring requests whenever available, and utilize AI-Powered Support (Tutor Copilot) to enhance sessions and save prep time.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess deep knowledge of the entire IB Business Management curriculum at both Standard (SL) and Higher Levels (HL), covering key areas like business organization, human resource management, finance and accounts, marketing, and operations management.
• Experience: Skilled in teaching students how to perform case study analysis, interpret financial ratios, and develop strategic recommendations specific to IB Business Management, with a proven capacity to adapt instruction to different learning styles and student needs.
• Skills:
1. Exceptional ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with and explain material using multiple, adaptive approaches tailored to individual learning needs.
2. Strong communication skills coupled with a friendly and engaging teaching style that fosters an effective learning environment.
3. Comprehensive familiarity with the IB Business Management syllabus for both SL and HL, including an awareness of common student challenges in applying theories, performing financial analysis, and structuring extended response answers.
4. Capacity to effectively guide students through analyzing real and fictional business scenarios, calculating profitability and liquidity ratios, evaluating marketing strategies, and constructing evidence-based recommendations.
