What We Look For In a PRAXIS Tutor

• Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of Praxis Core Academic Skills tests (Reading, Writing, Mathematics) and content-specific Praxis Subject Assessments across various education disciplines. Ability to explain selected-response and constructed-response question formats, scoring thresholds by state, and content domains.
• Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching reading comprehension strategies, argumentative essay construction, and mathematical reasoning for Praxis Core tests. Guides students through analyzing complex passages, identifying grammatical errors, solving algebra and geometry problems, interpreting data, and writing source-based essays. Emphasizes understanding state-specific passing scores and targeting preparation toward the highest-impact content areas.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiarity with Praxis test formats and common challenges such as constructed response writing requirements, mathematics content gaps, and managing test anxiety. Adapts instruction using official ETS practice materials, content-specific review guides, and timed practice tests to support pre-service teachers, career changers, and education students seeking state teaching licensure across content areas.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong Communication Skills: Possess strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
