Job Summary:
The AI & Analytics Solutions Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the development and implementation of cloud-based AI automation solutions. This position will primarily focus on utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS), with an emphasis on services such as AWS Bedrock, Lambda, and Step Functions. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience within a dynamic energy company environment. The intern will report directly to the Senior Manager of AI & Analytics Solutions.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the development and rigorous testing of AWS Lambda functions, Step Functions workflows, and Bedrock-powered automation pipelines, working closely under the guidance of the AI & Analytics team.
- Support the comprehensive design and detailed documentation of AI use case specifications, which includes drafting clear process flow documentation and precise technical specifications for automation candidates identified across various business units.
- Contribute to the development of Power BI reports and the optimization of SQL Server queries. This includes critical tasks such as data validation, thorough testing, and performance analysis for a variety of analytics solutions.
- Participate actively in data pipeline development for cloud-based data lake initiatives. Responsibilities include testing ingestion workflows, validating output data integrity, and assisting with troubleshooting efforts.
- Conduct in-depth research and proof-of-concept development on emerging AI/ML tools and new AWS services, subsequently summarizing key findings and presenting actionable recommendations to the team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Cloud Computing: Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts, including familiarity with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, IAM, Step Functions, Bedrock). This knowledge can be gained through relevant coursework or self-study.
- Programming: Proficiency in Python, demonstrating the ability to write, read, and debug scripts effectively for data processing, API calls, and automation workflows.
- Databases: Understanding of relational databases and basic SQL querying. Exposure to SQL Server or a similar Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) is preferred.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to research complex technical topics, identify root causes of issues, and propose viable solutions under guidance.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for documenting technical processes clearly and collaborating effectively with business stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related technical field.
- Completion of at least three years of undergraduate study is preferred.
- No prior professional experience is strictly required. However, relevant coursework, personal projects, or prior internship experience in software development or cloud computing will be considered a significant advantage.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner certification (or currently in progress) is preferred but not a mandatory requirement.
