About the Job: Corporate Finance Summer Associate

This Summer Associate internship is an approximately 8-week program, commencing in Summer 2026. Candidates should have an expected graduation date between December 2026 – August 2027. This position is based in BRG’s Chicago office.
Overview of the Corporate Finance Practice
The BRG Corporate Finance practice specializes in delivering strategic, operational, and financial advice to a diverse client base, including private equity firms, management teams, boards of directors, investors, hedge funds, and other lenders. The focus is on companies that are either underperforming or undergoing significant transitions.
Comprised of experienced, hands-on professionals, the market-leading BRG Corporate Finance practice is results-oriented and data-driven. The team collaborates as partners with management teams and sponsors to identify strategic options that maximize value for all stakeholders. Furthermore, the practice possesses deep operational expertise, enabling them to provide interim C-Suite level management and targeted surge resources to alleviate pressure on existing management teams.
The practice boasts extensive experience across a broad spectrum of industries and markets, including but not limited to retail, consumer products, financial services, healthcare, energy, and technology. Across these sectors, BRG’s experienced professionals understand the challenges clients face, positioning the firm to effectively solve complex issues.
Role: Corporate Finance Summer Associate
The Corporate Finance Summer Associate role is a temporary, entry-level position within our consulting/analyst staff. This eight-week program will immerse you in a team environment, working on a diverse range of assignments related to:
- Turnaround & Restructuring: Assisting companies facing financial distress or undergoing significant operational changes.
- Performance Improvement: Helping clients enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve profitability.
- Finance Excellence: Supporting initiatives to optimize financial processes, reporting, and strategic financial planning.
Responsibilities
As a Summer Associate, you will support the day-to-day activities of BRG Corporate Finance – Turnaround & Restructuring client service teams on engagements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Executing multiple tasks across a consulting engagement, including financial modeling and client presentations.
- Utilizing business, finance, accounting, and analytical skills to perform critical tasks, such as:
- Developing 13-week cash flow models.
- Constructing 3-statement models (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement).
- Creating pro-forma scenario models to assess future outcomes.
- Demonstrating the ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with BRG experts, professionals from other firms, and client contacts to achieve engagement objectives.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports, analyses, presentations, and other client deliverables.
- Participating in the development of a fast-growing, entrepreneurial consulting practice, including assisting in marketing efforts, client pitches, and product and practice development.
- Demonstrating the highest degree of professionalism, ethics, quality, and integrity in all tasks.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Corporate Finance Summer Associate position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Progression towards a Bachelor’s degree or a degree equivalent in Business, Accounting/Finance, Management, Engineering, Economics, Math, or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team dynamic.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to interact professionally with junior and senior team members, senior management, and other stakeholders or professionals.
- Mature presence, empathy, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly.
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Hourly range: $35-40/hr
Candidate must be able to submit verification of their legal right to work in the United States, without company sponsorship now or in the future.
