SMIT Proposal Operations at Leidos is seeking a motivated Business Systems & AI Solutions Intern to join the US Navy SMIT Growth Team. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide end-to-end tools and systems support throughout the proposal lifecycle. You will be instrumental in supporting processes from initial solution definition, through SLIN development, Basis of Estimate (BOE) creation, pricing, and the generation of final proposal artifacts.

Working directly with proposal leadership and cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in enhancing and integrating internal tools, streamlining workflows, and leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to effectively reuse historical proposal data and perform critical consistency checks across technical and pricing outputs. The successful candidate will help ensure that our proposal tools and processes are executable, efficient, and perfectly aligned across all proposal inputs and deliverables, contributing directly to our mission’s success.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Enhance and integrate proposal tools utilizing Microsoft Excel, automation, and AI technologies.
  • Streamline program-specific Basis of Estimate (BOE) templates to better align with corporate BOE standards.
  • Maintain and enhance internally developed tools, primarily in Microsoft Excel.
  • Develop or support the creation of tools designed to analyze historical BOE data to identify similar or analogous tasks.
  • Support the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and associated processes.
  • Conduct targeted research on technical services to support robust solution development.
  • Collaborate closely with pricing, engineering, contracts, and capture teams to ensure proposed solutions are executable and deliverable.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency with advanced formulas and macros.
  • Experience with programming languages such as JavaScript, Visual Basic/VBA, and/or Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, self-assign work, and thrive in a fast-paced proposal environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidates must be US citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Basis of Estimate (BOE) development, proposal pricing, or working within government contracting environments.
  • Experience applying AI or generative AI tools to solve business or analytical problems.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Power BI, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with automation tools, data repositories, or legacy systems.
  • Ability to remain upbeat, positive, and constructive under high-pressure deadlines.

Pay Range and Benefits

Pay Range: $48,100.00 – $86,950.00
