Summer Associate, Investment Funds | DLA Piper

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at DLA Piper, located in Austin, Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. Through this program, summer associates will gain foundational legal skills and insight into client needs.

• Mission: To build legal skills and provide insight into transactional matters and client needs within the investment funds practice.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transactional Work: Work on transactional matters within the Investment Funds group.
• Pro Bono Service: Engage in various pro bono opportunities.
• Skill Development: Participate in in-depth training programs focused on professional growth.
• Mentorship & Feedback: Receive support and constructive feedback from an assigned team.
• Networking: Build professional connections through organized social events.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in law school, having completed the equivalent of four semesters prior to the start of the 2027 Summer Program.
• Experience: Demonstrated interest in finance and motivated to build legal skills and gain insight into client needs.
• Skills: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing, produce timely and quality work product, successfully meet deadlines, and manage competing demands under pressure.
• Bonus: An education or background in business or finance, along with an entrepreneurial mindset and a creative approach to problem-solving.
