What You’ll Actually Do
• Participate: Actively engage in a comprehensive six-month operating room orientation program, which provides essential education for a perioperative nursing career.
• Learn: Acquire a wide range of specialized skills and knowledge through structured learning experiences in classroom, laboratory, and live patient care settings.
• Rotate: Complete mandatory rotations through multiple surgical specialties within the CVC-OR to gain diverse practical experience and adaptability.
• Perform: Develop the capability to function safely and effectively as a perioperative nurse across a variety of complex cardiac and vascular surgical cases.
• Commit: Fulfill a required two-year commitment to working in the CVC-OR upon the successful completion of the internship program, solidifying your role in the department.
• Respond: Be prepared to fulfill call commitments, including weekend and holiday obligations, with a strict 30-minute response time to support critical surgical needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license, and this role is suitable for both graduate nurses and experienced registered nurses.
• Experience: While this is an internship, applicants must attach a complete and accurate resume for full consideration.
• Skills: Possess the ability to fulfill a rigorous call commitment, requiring a 30-minute response time, and demonstrate the capacity to work effectively with a non-responsive patient population.
• Bonus: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is desired, along with a proven satisfactory attendance record, demonstrated ability to manage stress and conflict, and strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
