Safety Intern | Superior

The Tone:
This is an internship position at Superior, located in Columbus, Ohio, for the Fall 2026 term. Superior is a national leader in electrical design and construction, responsible for powering critical infrastructure from hospitals to data centers. This Safety Intern role offers an excellent opportunity for highly motivated students to gain practical experience in construction safety within a century-old company. Interns will not only support crucial jobsite safety initiatives but also benefit from a structured development program, including lunch-and-learns, leadership training, career preparation, and unique jobsite visits.

• Team: Reports directly to Superior’s experienced Safety team
• Mission: To support on-site safety initiatives, ensuring team members adhere to proper safety protocols across construction jobsites.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Auditing: Participate in daily walk-through safety audits across large construction sites, working to ensure compliance with government rules and regulations.
• Reporting: Assist in the completion of daily reports and audits, detailing site activities, critical conversations with teams, and identified safety issues.
• Documentation: Create, maintain, and update essential safety documentation and forms necessary for project operations and compliance.
• Training & Culture: Assist with safety training programs, support the onboarding of new Safety Professionals, and collaborate on initiatives to enhance the onsite safety culture.
• Management & Reporting: Organize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in various jobsite locations and assist with the creation of comprehensive safety reports for ongoing projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, actively pursuing a degree in Construction Safety or a closely related field.
• Experience: Seeking an early career student eager to gain practical experience in construction safety within a professional environment.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach; proven problem-solving abilities; highly organized with strong attention to detail and prioritization skills; capability to exercise discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
