Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer Intern will provide essential feedback and project support to the new product development team, helping to meet critical deadlines. This position offers valuable engineering experience within a team environment, directly applicable to coursework. Key responsibilities may include assisting with 3D printing, collaborating with the quality team on product testing in the lab, creating basic level modeling, and designing prototypes. Additionally, the intern may recommend improvements to manufacturing processes by working alongside the manufacturing management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create 3D prints and post-process them for review by the new product development team.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and submit products for testing in the lab.
  • Create or modify basic models or engineering prints.
  • Design and build prototypes and test fixtures, then make recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct product testing in the Engineering test lab and accurately report results.
  • Analyze engineering test lab results and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Partner with the manufacturing team to propose improvements to manufacturing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the nature and level of the role.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Qualified candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program to be considered.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of computers and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Communication: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to prioritize projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent follow-up skills.
  • Organization: Must be organized and detail-oriented to be successful.

Physical Demand Requirements

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation

Pay Range: $22-$27 / hour
