Job Description

NAPA Counter Sales Associate

Are you passionate about automotive parts and thrive in a dynamic retail environment? NAPA is more than just a parts store; we’re a family seeking great talent to join our team! As a NAPA Counter Sales Associate, you are the welcoming “face of the retail store” and the primary contact for our customers’ automotive needs. While you don’t need to be an expert mechanic, a solid background and knowledge of automotive parts are essential. This role offers a fantastic opportunity, whether you’re looking for a long-term career as a Parts Specialist, seeking full/part-time work, or aiming to get your foot in the door to explore future career paths within NAPA.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide comprehensive auto parts answers and solutions to both retail and wholesale customers, both in-person at the counter and over the phone.
  • Leverage your automotive parts knowledge to support other NAPA team members in assisting customers with their inquiries.
  • Deliver outstanding customer care and foster positive interactions with every individual who visits our NAPA Store.
  • Bring a strong customer focus and high energy to our fast-paced retail stores.
  • Welcome retail customers warmly into our stores, engaging them to ensure a positive and helpful consumer experience.
  • Efficiently utilize various tools including computer systems, cash registers, telephones, and traditional paper catalog systems to find information and process sales.

This Is The Right Opportunity For You If You

  • Genuinely enjoy helping retail and wholesale customers with their automotive parts and service questions.
  • Possess hands-on parts experience gained from working in the automotive industry or through extensive personal tinkering with and repairing cars & trucks over the years.
  • Are eager and willing to continuously learn all things automotive, even if your current background in automotive parts is developing.
  • Are looking to join a supportive team where you can learn, grow, and advance your career – with endless opportunities within NAPA.

What You’ll Need

  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Previous experience in a parts store or the automotive industry, OR a strong willingness to learn and master auto parts knowledge.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical or Trade school courses or a degree in an automotive-related field is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively assist customers and team members.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for working in fast-paced retail environments.
  • Great listening skills combined with empathy for customer needs and challenges.

Even Better If You Have (Not a Deal Breaker If You Don’t)

  • A background and/or passion for the automotive industry, heavy equipment, farm industry, diesel mechanics, marine vehicles, or dealership operations.
  • Previous experience in a parts store, auction, general retail store, or auto body/collision shop.
  • Knowledge of cataloging systems AND/OR inventory management systems would be a significant advantage.
  • An entirely customer-centric approach, prioritizing both external and internal customer satisfaction.
  • ASE Certifications are highly valued.

What’s In It For You

  • Join a team of awesome people and represent a renowned brand.
  • Competitive Pay that recognizes your skills and contributions.
  • Outstanding health benefits and a 401K plan to support your future.
  • Work for a stable, Fortune 200 company that maintains a “family” feel.
  • Experience a culture that promotes from within, encourages creativity, values finding solutions/fixes, and where no two days or career paths are the same!
  • Benefit from great training and ongoing development, with robust support from multiple leaders and your dedicated team.
