Software Engineer Intern | The Trade Desk
The Tone:
This is a Software Engineer Intern position at The Trade Desk, located in various North American offices with an in-person requirement for three days a week. The Trade Desk is a global technology company focused on creating a better, more open internet through intelligent advertising, operating a platform that processes over 1 trillion queries daily. The TL;DR

• Pay: $46–$62 hourly
• Team: Collaborates with globally connected teams of engineers and other departments; receives one-on-one mentorship from an experienced software engineer.
• Mission: Own and ship a substantial project end-to-end that will make a positive and meaningful impact for the team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Own Project: Take full ownership of a meaningful project, from its initial design to its final implementation and delivery, ensuring a substantial positive impact for the team.
• Receive Mentorship: Benefit from dedicated, personalized one-on-one mentorship provided by an experienced software engineer throughout the internship.
• Collaborate Globally: Engage and work effectively with a globally connected team, including other engineers, interns, and various departments located in cities worldwide.
• Explore Technologies: Work with and learn about new technologies encompassing a wide array of computer science domains, such as distributed systems, processing petabyte-scale data, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and user interface/user experience design.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, with an expected graduation date between Autumn 2026 and Summer 2027.
• Experience: Not specified in terms of years, but candidates should be fluent in at least one modern object-oriented programming language.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in one or more contemporary object-oriented programming languages.
• A solid understanding of fundamental data structures.
• A firm grasp of basic algorithmic techniques.
• Ability to learn quickly and direct one’s own learning, taking ownership over design, planning, and implementation.
• Availability to work 3 days in person in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).
