Medical Device Sales Summer Intern | Arthrex Detroit
The Tone:
This is a 12-week paid summer internship at Arthrex Detroit, the exclusive distributor for Southeast Michigan. The company provides advanced medical devices and orthopedic solutions to support surgeons. This role offers hands-on experience in medical device sales, where you will learn how to help surgeons treat patients better and gain insight into the healthcare industry. It is designed to provide a direct path into a career in medical device sales.

• Mission: This intern supports the mission of helping surgeons treat their patients better by learning the essential functions of medical device sales and operations.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Gain Sales Insight: Understand the business side of medical device sales, including quotas, targets, and performance metrics, across areas like Sports Medicine, Extremities & Trauma, and Orthobiologics.
• Support Surgical Procedures: Observe surgeries in the operating room, such as ACL repairs, using specific Arthrex products to understand their application in treating acute injuries, chronic overuse conditions, and trauma.
• Assist in Medical Education: Help set up and execute lab events, learning about human anatomy, surgical techniques, and operating room etiquette through hands-on demonstrations and support.
• Manage Operations: Learn about product logistics and flow, inventory management, surgical tray organization, and billing processes to ensure efficient delivery of solutions.
• Build Relationships: Develop trust and communication skills with surgeons and hospital staff, understanding the importance of professional interaction in the medical field.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a college senior with a strong enthusiasm for medicine, human anatomy, and the field of orthopedics.
• Experience: Demonstrated basic computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, and a willingness to learn new systems.
• Skills: Possess strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, along with a detail-oriented approach. Comfortable working with anatomic specimens such as bones and joints. Ability to work flexibly, as some evenings or weekends may be required.
