The Tone:
This is an internship at BDO USA, PC, a leading accounting and advisory firm. BDO’s Transfer Pricing team works with multi-national companies, employing consulting economists to ensure accurate pricing of transactions between corporate entities. This role is crucial for helping clients navigate complex foreign and domestic tax regulations. Interns contribute directly to these efforts by examining economic conditions, evaluating intercompany transactions, and providing valuable support in establishing or substantiating appropriate pricing policies for clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Information Gathering: Conduct client interviews to collect vital data on corporate structure, functional responsibilities, risk distribution, value drivers for profitability, industry overview, competitive pressure, and the historical context of current circumstances.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze extensive industry and client financial data to benchmark or document appropriate intercompany pricing policies, and perform additional analyses such as evaluating market penetration or calculating intangible property value.
• Report Preparation: Prepare comprehensive project reports for clients, detailing the methodology, research conducted, quantitative analysis performed, and final results to document compliance with tax regulations and present consulting advice.
• Presentation Delivery: Create and deliver presentations to effectively convey analysis results and future recommendations to current clients, and participate in pitches to prospective clients to showcase service capabilities.
• Report Writing & Editing: Draft initial versions of industry overviews, functional analyses, and technical memos describing the analytical process, meticulously taking interview notes, summarizing details for team members, and proofreading and editing all reports before client delivery.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional, currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Accounting, Economics, or another relevant field of study.
• Experience: No specific years of prior experience are required for this internship role.
• Skills: Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills for highly technical and descriptive material; strong analytical abilities; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); effective interpersonal and communication skills for client interaction; and a basic understanding of transfer pricing principles with a desire to learn more.
• Bonus: Preferred leadership experience and solid organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
