Cloud Architect | Con Edison

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Con Edison, located in New York, NY (On-site). Con Edison operates critical utility infrastructure and is dedicated to fostering innovation within its technology landscape. This role is essential for providing technical leadership, optimizing technology, and contributing to strategic enterprise architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives.

• Team: Within Enterprise Tech & Security (ETS), collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Cyber Security, Network Systems, and peer ETS teams.
• Mission: Foster innovation, collaborate with business and IT, and develop technology roadmaps, reference architectures, and best practices to ensure scalable, maintainable, and effective solutions while driving application rationalization.
• Tech Stack: BigQuery, Google MS purview, Dataplex

What You’ll Actually Do
Design Data Systems: Design and maintain BigQuery schemas, including tables, partitioning, and clustering, based on business requirements, while managing metadata and lineage for key datasets.
Ensure Architecture Compliance: Oversee architecture and solution reviews to ensure compliance with ETS standards, coordinate with internal teams to address issues, and apply basic data governance principles.
Collaborate on Integrations: Partner with Engineering, Operations, Cyber Security, Network Systems, and peer ETS teams to plan, review design packages, integrate IT deliverables, and build/optimize data ingestion/ETL pipelines into BigQuery.
Drive Technological Change: Lead and drive change initiatives, championing new concepts, and establishing technical standards for development, integration, and system maintenance across IT domains.
Provide Leadership & Mentorship: Guide, motivate, and challenge direct reports to achieve high performance, foster professional growth, and advance enterprise architecture adoption within a standards-driven culture.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or business-related disciplines, eager to grow into a future enterprise architecture leader.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant full-time work experience (5 years preferred). This includes evaluating technologies, designing and implementing cyber security measures in the cloud or on-prem, collaborating with IT and business stakeholders, and developing scalable data and analytics platforms.
• Skills: Solid expertise in Google MS purview, Dataplex & BigQuery. Ability to create in-depth technology reference architectures, playbooks, and detailed design diagrams. Demonstrated project management skills, including estimating investments, along with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Bonus: Driver’s License Required. Preferred training and/or certifications in data governance and data architecture (e.g., TOGAF, DAMA CDMP, ITIL, CCSP, CISM, CISA, CISSP, Microsoft Azure Data Certifications, AWS Certified Solutions Architect). Ability to be available 24/7 for on-call and emergency response.
