Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2026)

Akima is seeking enthusiastic Software Engineer Interns to join our team for the Summer 2026 term, working with Pinnacle Solutions, one of our operating companies located in Huntsville, AL.

We are looking for students eager to learn new technologies and contribute meaningfully to our projects. As an intern, you will collaborate with experienced Pinnacle engineers on ongoing projects and participate in our STEM Capstone project, where you will develop an innovative application during your internship. While no prior knowledge of specific coding languages is required – we will provide the necessary training – strong candidates will demonstrate proficiency in at least one coding language.

Internship Dates: May 28, 2026 – August 1, 2026

Responsibilities

  • Network with professionals within the company and industry.
  • Receive training on various applications and tools used in software development.
  • Collaborate with different departments to gain a broader understanding of the business operations.
  • Receive guidance and mentorship from experienced engineers and professional leaders.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and interested in working effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Must be majoring in a Computer Science-related field.
  • Possess a strong technical aptitude with a passion for technology and problem-solving.
  • Have a basic understanding of IT concepts, including hardware, software, networks, and security.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and common software applications.
  • Must be an upcoming Junior or Senior in your academic program.
  • Maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.
  • Must be within commuting distance to Huntsville, AL (housing will not be provided).
