Bartender | Sanderling Resort

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Sanderling Resort, located in Duck, North Carolina, known as the premier oceanfront destination in the Outer Banks. The resort prides itself on delivering refined coastal hospitality and memorable guest experiences. This Bartender position is essential for The Lifesaving Station (LSS), the resort’s signature all-day dining outlet, where it contributes significantly to the strong beverage programming and welcoming service in a high-volume, family-friendly setting, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for every guest.

The TL;DR

• Team: Food & Beverage – Front of House, reporting to the Lead Bartender, Front of House Supervisor, or Restaurant General Manager.
• Mission: Execute elevated beverage service at The Lifesaving Station by preparing high-quality cocktails, wine, and beer offerings, delivering exceptional guest hospitality, maintaining cleanliness standards, and supporting cost control initiatives aligned with resort standards.
• Tech Stack: Point of Sale System, Phone and Two-Way Communication Devices, Scheduling, Timekeeping, and Labor Management Software, Time clock and time clock systems, Bar Equipment (shakers, strainers, jiggers, muddlers, bar spoons), Basic Cleaning Tools and Chemicals, Glassware and Garnish Tools, Wine Preservation Systems, Refrigeration Units, Ice Machine, Step Stool.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Beverage Mastery: Prepare and serve a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency in preparation, presentation, and portion control, while maintaining full knowledge of all offerings.
• Guest Experience: Engage guests warmly and professionally, offering recommendations and suggestive selling to enhance their visit, and actively maintaining awareness of guest feedback to resolve minor concerns.
• Bar Operations: Maintain proper bar setup prior to service, ensuring cleanliness and organization of the bar top, back bar, service well, and all storage areas.
• Inventory & Teamwork: Monitor product levels, practice proper rotation and storage, support inventory counts, and communicate clearly with servers, support staff, and the culinary team for seamless service flow.
• Financial & Compliance: Accurately enter orders and process payments using the Point of Sale system, handling various payment types, and diligently following responsible alcohol service guidelines and company procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A proven understanding of cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits, alongside responsible alcohol service practices.
• Experience: At least 2 years of bartending experience, with a preference for experience gained in a full-service or upscale restaurant environment.
• Skills: Strong communication and guest engagement abilities, coupled with the capacity to multitask and maintain composure under pressure.
