The Field Engineer Intern plays a pivotal role in implementing IT installations, services, and changes across Copart’s HQ, various offices, and expansive yards. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including:

• Providing essential office support.
• Facilitating operational growth initiatives.
• Managing yard moves and remodels.
• Handling equipment decommissioning.
• Offering general IT support.

Some travel may be required for this position.

Duties

• Provide remote assistance for the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of network, desktop, and voice equipment.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data circuits, escalating issues to vendors as necessary.
• Track and resolve tickets efficiently within the Helpdesk system.
• Document and manage IT equipment inventory meticulously.
• Install and support various IT devices, including PCs, servers, VoIP systems, mobility devices, and underlying infrastructure.
• Assist in critical IT projects, which includes research, configuration, and deployment tasks.
• Coordinate IT moves, adds, and changes across different yards and offices to ensure seamless operations.
• Update project documentation accurately in Copart’s SharePoint platform.
• Determine and design infrastructure wiring solutions based on floor plans.
• Collaborate with vendors to obtain quotes and manage IT purchases effectively.
• Verify IT equipment arrivals and conduct thorough inventory checks.
• Conduct site surveys and report any discrepancies observed.
• Ensure the operational status of telecommunications circuits and phone lines.
• Expedite Telecom issues and provide assistance with IT installations.
• Conduct comprehensive connectivity tests for all IT equipment.
• Resolve IT issues promptly on the opening day of new sites to ensure smooth launch.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support IT operations.

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of telecommunications, LAN cabling, and data circuits.
• Self-motivated with the ability to exercise good judgment under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
• Experience with physical network and PC equipment installations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift 20 lbs. repeatedly.
• Understanding of cabling infrastructure and relevant standards.

Preferred Skills

• Strong project management abilities.
• Knowledge of data networking and telecommunications.
