Utility Locator (Field Technician)

Starting Pay: $21.00/hour

About the Job:

Stake Center Locating is seeking motivated individuals for entry-level Locate Technician positions. This role involves locating underground utilities, troubleshooting, and marking the ground (using paint and flags) to prevent damage. We provide 100% paid training and equip you with the necessary skills to succeed. Ideal candidates will enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions, possess a desire for independent work, and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities (Entry-Level Training Provided):

• Prioritize and practice safety first.
• Utilize a laptop computer for receiving, documenting, and processing tickets and emails.
• Read maps, interpret blueprints, and determine optimal locating methods and sequences.
• Operate provided locate equipment and technology to accurately identify underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.

Qualifications:

• Eighteen years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day, 2-3 times a week.
• Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs, or in excess of 75 lbs with tool aids.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screening.

Schedule:

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required by ticket/production load.
• Participation in scheduled on-call shift rotation to respond to emergency calls.
