What You’ll Actually Do
• Ensure Safety: Consistently prioritize and practice safety protocols to prevent damage to utilities and ensure a secure working environment.
• Manage Work Orders: Efficiently utilize a company-provided laptop computer for receiving new tickets, thoroughly documenting all work performed, and processing completed requests and communications via email.
• Plan Locates: Accurately read and interpret various maps and blueprints to determine the optimal locating methods and the most efficient sequence for identifying underground utilities.
• Perform Locating: Operate specialized locate equipment and advanced technology with precision to accurately identify the exact position of underground utilities.
• Communicate Clearly: Maintain effective communication with peers, managers, and homeowners, providing clear updates and addressing any questions or concerns regarding utility locating.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is required for this entry-level career opportunity. Candidates must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Experience: A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is essential, as a company vehicle is provided for daily use.
• Skills: Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities to accurately interpret site conditions and navigate complex locating scenarios; a desire for independent work while adhering to established safety and operational procedures; the physical capability to walk up to 5 miles a day, 2-3 times a week, and carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods across varied terrain; the ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs independently, or in excess of 75 lbs with tool aids, is also required. Ideal candidates will enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions. Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screening is mandatory.
• Bonus: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as dictated by the ticket and production load; participation in a scheduled on-call shift rotation to respond effectively to emergency locating calls.
