Information Technology Internship – Summer

Internship Overview
During this internship, you will have the opportunity to partner with experienced IT professionals and leaders to learn processes and procedures that are required to successfully run an IT department. After observing and engaging with department team members across a variety of tasks, interns will be assigned to a focused project. Learning areas will include:
- Safety and Skills Training: Full safety orientation for fabrication shop environments.
- Gemba Walks: Spend dedicated time shadowing current IT personnel.
- Troubleshooting: Apply methods such as the OSI model and various tools/software to remediate several IT issues.
- Improvements and Strategy: Propose and test IT solutions to improve efficiency.
- Customer Support: Assisting end users with submitted issues via the helpdesk system.
IT Environment
Software and hardware that will be encountered:
- Windows 11
- Windows Server 2022/2025
- Meraki firewalls / wireless access points
- Dell laptops
- VMWare
- Tekla
- Cisco security
- Microsoft Exchange
- Microsoft Office
Requirements
- Rising sophomore, junior, or senior in an undergraduate program in any related IT field that would benefit from exposure to a real world operating IT department.
- Basic understanding of several IT practices and procedures.
- Basic understanding of IT software and hardware devices.
- Availability for a full-time schedule during the summer season.
- Availability for travel to several shop offices within the region.
- Ability to follow safety requirements and uphold Kinsley Steel’s safety values.
