Utility Locator (Field Technician)

Starting Pay: $21.00 per hour

Stake Center Locating is seeking entry-level Locate Technicians (Field Technicians) to join their team. This role is crucial for promoting damage prevention in the community by accurately locating underground utilities, troubleshooting, and marking their positions on the ground using paint and flags. Key Responsibilities (Training Provided for Entry-Level Technicians):

Entry-level Locating Technicians will be trained to:

  • Prioritize and adhere to safety protocols (“Think Safety First!”).
  • Utilize a laptop computer for receiving, documenting, and processing tickets, as well as managing emails.
  • Interpret maps and blueprints to determine the optimal method and sequence for locating utilities.
  • Operate provided locate equipment and technology to accurately identify underground utilities.
  • Maintain effective communication with peers, managers, and homeowners.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Physical ability to walk up to 5 miles a day, 2-3 times a week.
  • Physical ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods.
  • Physical ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs independently, or over 75 lbs with tool aids.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screening.

Schedule:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule is required, which may include some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, based on ticket/production load.
  • Employees will participate in a scheduled on-call shift rotation to respond to emergency calls.
