Job Summary
The Graduate Nurse, under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, will be responsible for rendering comprehensive nursing care to patients. This includes the safe and timely administration of medications and treatments, ensuring patient well-being and adherence to established care plans.

Essential Job Functions

- Direct Patient Care: Provide hands-on, compassionate direct patient care tailored to individual needs.
- Medication Administration: Accurately and safely administer medications, including oral (PO), intramuscular (IM), and intravenous piggyback (IV PB) routes, ensuring timely delivery and meticulous documentation.
- Medication Security: Take full responsibility for the safe-guarding of all medications and narcotics in accordance with hospital policies.
- Intravenous (IV) Management: Initiate and assist with the ongoing maintenance of intravenous lines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient care activities, observations, and interventions.
- Patient Education: Collaborate with other disciplines to assist in providing comprehensive patient education.
- Unit Environment: Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe unit environment.
- Patient Assessments: Assist with conducting thorough admission and discharge assessments for patients.
- Patient Rights and Privacy: Uphold and respect patient privacy, rights, and individual values, ensuring care is provided accordingly.
- Care Plan Execution: Assume responsibility for delivering care to an assigned group of patients, strictly adhering to the care plan established by the Registered Nurse.
- Reporting and Collaboration: Report all observations and pertinent patient information to the Registered Nurse, fostering close and harmonious collaboration.
- New Employee Orientation: Assist in the orientation process for new employees joining the unit.
- Policy Adherence: Administer nursing care in a safe and timely manner, strictly adhering to all hospital policies, procedures, and the organizational philosophy.
- Competency Completion: Successfully complete all required annual competencies.
- Assigned Duties: Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.
- Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures, and the Personnel Employee Handbook.
- Cross-Training: Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to cross-train to other units as needed.
- Customer Service: Exhibit excellence in customer service skills, promoting a positive patient and visitor experience.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration, actively attending unit meetings.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement activities, including serving on quality improvement teams, to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
