Ubuntu Pro Sales Engineer | Canonical
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Canonical, where the company provides open source software and operating systems, notably Ubuntu, to global enterprise and technology markets. Canonical’s platform, Ubuntu, is broadly used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. This role is essential for helping global companies adopt the latest Linux and open source applications by applying expert insights to solve real-world customer problems through Ubuntu Pro.

• Team: Global Field Engineering team, working closely with enterprise sales leads.
• Mission: Facilitate and drive the adoption of Ubuntu Pro in the very large Ubuntu enterprise user base.
• Tech Stack: Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenStack, Canonical Microcloud, Linux, Ubuntu, virtualisation, containers, networking, Python.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Advise: Collect customer business requirements and provide guidance on Ubuntu and relevant open source applications.
• Solve: Identify customer challenges with open source and articulate how Ubuntu Pro can resolve them.
• Demonstrate: Deliver presentations and demonstrations of Ubuntu Pro to prospective and current clients.
• Influence: Liaise with product teams to provide feedback on requirements, influencing the product roadmap.
• Collaborate: Work collaboratively with your sales team to achieve common targets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path, coupled with an exceptional academic track record. This role suits individuals with a technical background who are business-minded and driven by commercial success.
• Experience: Practical knowledge of Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), virtualisation, containers, and networking. Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and leaders such as Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and GCP is also required.
• Skills: Intermediate level Python programming skills, professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills, and the ability to think as a business-minded technology problem solver. You should also possess excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
• Bonus: A personal interest in continuous learning and development, along with a passion for technology evidenced by personal projects and initiatives. An interest in large-scale enterprise open source, including private clouds, machine learning, AI, data, and analytics, is also beneficial.
