• Mission: Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Abingdon Quarry through cross-functional duties across maintenance, production, and equipment operation.
• Tech Stack: Automated scale and related computer software program

What You’ll Actually Do
• Quarry Maintenance: Perform preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including greasing, lubricating, cutting, and welding under guidance. This includes conducting daily pre/post-shift inspections and maintaining accurate maintenance logs.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate various types of mobile equipment such as skid steers, front-end loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and water trucks for dust control. This also involves using hand shovels and other tools for site cleanup.
• Site Upkeep & Logistics: Maintain high plant housekeeping standards, clean around equipment, and ensure safe traffic flow. This includes maintaining roadways, parking areas, and administering site-specific training to visitors and customers.
• Production & Quality Support: Actively participate in core plant operations including production, loading, shipping, and quality control processes. This role ensures customer needs are fulfilled and sales activities are properly recorded.
• Customer & Administrative Support: Operate automated scales and related computer software to generate customer tickets. This involves maintaining accurate daily, weekly, and monthly records of aggregate tonnage and sales, answering customer calls, and communicating product information.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position.
• Experience: Practical experience performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation.
• Skills: Safe operation of mobile and plant equipment, basic maintenance procedures including greasing and lubrication, computer literacy for scale operation, and effective customer communication.
• Bonus: Experience in the building materials industry.
