About the Role

Chesterfield County is seeking a dedicated and responsible individual for the position of Site Supervisor Assistant within the General Services Department. This full-time role involves assisting the Site Supervisor with various operational and administrative duties, primarily focusing on revenue collection, convenience center operations, customer service, and grounds maintenance. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of convenience centers, adhering to county policies and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Supervisor with the oversight of revenue collection activities, ensuring adherence to all county accounting and auditing procedures and policies.
  • Monitor convenience center operations to ensure compliance with all OSHA safety requirements.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for resolving customer complaints and answering customer questions.
  • Oversee waste disposal and recycling programs at the convenience centers.
  • Perform general maintenance of grounds and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records related to operations, revenue, and safety.
  • Perform other assigned work with a positive attitude, prioritizing safety at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience performing cashiering and/or grounds maintenance duties.
  • One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and experience in cashiering operations.
  • Basic computer and calculator skills are required.
  • Good customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Accurate record-keeping abilities are necessary.
  • Knowledge of waste management operations and managing hazardous materials is a plus.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

Work in this classification is primarily physical in nature, requiring:

  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds.

Driver’s License and Driving Record Requirements

  • Current valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
  • Driving records, based on the Virginia DMV point system, must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date.
  • Records must not reflect one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.
  • Applicants with out-of-state driving records must obtain and present them at the time of the interview. These records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of the interview date.

Pre-employment Requirements

Successful candidates will be subject to:

  • Pre-employment drug testing.
  • FBI criminal background check.
  • Education/degree verification.

Note: This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Shift Details

  • 40 hours per week.
  • 11-hour shifts.
  • Work schedule includes Saturday – Friday, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Requirements

  • Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment.
