Liquor Store Associate
Job Summary
This role is essential for building customer confidence and loyalty by consistently providing courteous and prompt service, maintaining optimal operating conditions, and fostering a friendly store atmosphere.
Essential Responsibilities

Compliance (50%)
- Observes customers and meticulously checks identification for age verification, accurately identifying customers who should not be served additional alcohol.
- Monitors customers to assist in the prevention of open containers leaving the store.
- Denies sale of alcohol or tobacco to underage or intoxicated customers, strictly adhering to legal requirements.

Customer Excellence (25%)
- Provides continuous, proactive attention to customers’ needs, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Greets, assists, and thanks customers in a prompt, courteous, and friendly manner.
- Offers knowledgeable product suggestions to customers when appropriate, enhancing their selection process.

Operational Excellence (25%)
- Stocks and rotates department products diligently to ensure freshness, proper presentation, and strict date control.
- Restocks and utilizes supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and maintain the lowest possible supply cost.
- Operates department equipment and tools safely and effectively, including cashiering equipment, recognizing all forms of tender and providing the correct change accurately and efficiently.
- Keeps work area consistently clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; promptly reports faulty equipment and potential hazards to management.

- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- TIPS Training required prior to position start date. (Refer to Addendum below for details on this and other certifications).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, and proficiently follow instructions.
- Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- High standard of integrity and reliability.
- Basic computer skills required for participation in online training modules.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Ability to thrive and perform effectively in a fast-paced and busy retail environment.

Physical Demands: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk on various types of flooring, utilize manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell, and perform repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet. The employee is frequently required to reach at waist level or overhead, carry, push, or lift various loads up to the required weights listed below. The employee is occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb up to 30 ft.
Working Conditions: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee may be exposed to working in indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid working conditions.
Safety Risk Factors: The employee is frequently required to twist back and/or neck, walk on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, work with hazardous equipment, and be exposed to sharp objects. The employee is occasionally required to be exposed to loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions, and other toxins.
Overall Required Equipment: Cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, various material handling equipment such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts.
