Summary

SHRM’s paid internship program enables students to participate in valuable real-world work experience through various tailored assignments within their areas of interest and fields of study. Students will be tasked with different team-specific projects, and tasks, and participate in professional development projects and events to prepare them for their future careers. The Accounting & Finance Intern will work closely with our finance team to support various accounting functions and financial analysis. This internship offers the chance to learn fundamental accounting principles, financial reporting, and contribute to critical financial processes within the organization.

This is a paid internship starting at $20.00/Hour.

This is a 10-week, summer internship from June 2, 2026 – August 6, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Support financial data entry and maintenance of financial records in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to analyze financial data and assist in financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Participate in audits by gathering and organizing financial information and documentation.
  • Assist in ad hoc financial projects and analysis as required by the finance team.
  • Learn and apply accounting software and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts; coursework or relevant projects in accounting/finance is advantageous.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving analytical skills.
  • Strong skills in business written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of commitment and initiative.

Physical Requirements

This position operates in a typical office environment and requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and using office equipment.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as needed.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.

Work Environment

Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In-Office / 2 Days Remote):

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00–9:00 a.m. and concluding between 5:00–6:00 p.m. local time.
