Job Description

Internship Opportunity at Linq

Are you a curious and ambitious individual eager to dive into real-world technical challenges? Linq is looking for interns who want to get their hands dirty, work on production systems, and truly learn by shipping. This isn’t just busywork; you’ll be embedded with experienced engineers, contributing meaningfully from day one.

Job Details:

  • Location: Primarily hiring in Birmingham AL, NYC, and San Francisco.
  • Duration: Approximately 6 months, with flexible summer/semester options available.
  • Compensation: $15 – $25 per hour, depending on experience and location.
  • Reports To: CTO

The Role:

We are seeking interns who possess a genuine curiosity about how things work and an impatience to tackle real problems. You will be a crucial part of our engineering team, working directly on production systems and learning through practical application rather than just observation. Our goal is to provide an environment where you learn more in 6 months than many peers will in 3 years, with the potential for evaluation for a full-time role upon completion.

Potential Areas of Work:

Depending on your interests and our current needs, you could contribute to:

  • Software Development: Working with modern web technologies and backend services (e.g., React/Next.js, Go, TypeScript, Python).
  • DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure: Managing and optimizing our cloud environments (e.g., Docker, AWS, Azure, Heroku).
  • Data Engineering and Analytics: Building and maintaining data pipelines and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, dbt, Grafana, Looker, Snowflake).
  • Internal IT Systems and Security: Ensuring the robustness and security of our internal operations.
  • Hybrid Role: A combination of the above areas – we’ll collaboratively define a path that aligns with your growth and our needs.

Who Should Apply:

We encourage you to apply if you:

  • Are genuinely curious about software, data, or infrastructure, and are not just seeking a line on your resume.
  • Have built something on your own, no matter how small or messy it might have been – your initiative is what matters.
  • Are energized by ambiguity and thrive in environments where you can help define solutions, rather than being paralyzed by it.

Nice to Haves (but not dealbreakers):

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with foundational developer tools and platforms such as Git, Docker, SQL, or any cloud platform.
  • Previous internship or project experience in a related technical field.

Why Linq:

  • Accelerated Learning: Gain unparalleled hands-on experience, learning more about your chosen path in 6 months than most peers achieve in 3 years.
  • Impactful Work: Contribute to real production systems alongside experienced engineers, making a tangible difference.
  • Career Potential: Opportunity to be evaluated for a full-time role upon successful completion of your internship.
