Silicon Hardware Engineering Internship | Intel
The Tone:
This is a hybrid Silicon Hardware Engineering Internship at Intel, with opportunities available across multiple US locations including Hillsboro, Oregon, Phoenix, Arizona, Folsom and Santa Clara, California, and Austin, Texas. Interns will contribute to creating exceptionally engineered technology and bringing AI everywhere, building on Intel’s legacy of innovation and collaboration. The role focuses on transforming raw materials into the silicon that powers Intel’s advanced computing infrastructure, directly impacting the design, build, and test of powerful processors and platforms. What You’ll Actually Do
• Architecture: Engage in silicon and systems architecture, contributing to the foundational design for components like CPUs, GPUs, and SoCs.
• Design Engineering: Participate in diverse design roles including analog circuit design, physical design for GPUs, DFT design, and IP or SoC logic design.
• Verification & Validation: Perform rigorous design verification, pre-silicon validation, and formal verification for various silicon components, potentially as a CPU or GPU Design Verification Engineer.
• Testing & Debug: Contribute to test, fault, and manufacturing (TFM) processes, along with hardware validation and debug, including product failure analysis.
• Development & Emulation: Support product development efforts and engage in emulation engineering to ensure robust and performant silicon solutions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career individual pursuing a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field.
• Experience: Candidates must demonstrate at least three months of relevant educational or industry experience. This experience can be gained through academic classes, projects, research, or previous job and internship opportunities.
• Skills: Possess demonstrated or developing skills in debugging and hardware validation. Experience with hardware design knowledge, including RTL, Verilog, and VLSI, is required. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as C/C++, Python, Perl, and Tcl is also necessary.
• Bonus: A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
