Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join our Logistic Systems (LS) team. This internship offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in real-world system design, automation, and project coordination. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting and improving our day-to-day engineering functions.

The selected candidate will contribute to initiatives across systems engineering, electrical/controls documentation, software coordination, and internal tool development. This position promises meaningful project involvement, valuable technical learning opportunities, and the potential pathway to full-time employment post-graduation.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Assist in developing and updating system layouts using 2D and 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD/SolidEdge preferred).
  • Support the preparation of comprehensive technical documentation, including specification sheets, process flows, and functional descriptions.
  • Assist with essential electrical and controls documentation, such as I/O lists, control narratives, and revision logs.
  • Support basic feasibility studies, conceptual layouts, and various system design tasks.

Tools, Trackers & Process Improvement

  • Help develop and enhance internal tools, including costing models, Excel-based trackers, scheduling tools, and interactive dashboards.
  • Maintain engineering templates, ensure documentation standards are met, and manage reporting tools.
  • Actively identify opportunities to streamline engineering workflows and documentation processes for improved efficiency.

Project Coordination & Scheduling Support

  • Assist with gathering and meticulously organizing project requirements.
  • Support schedule updates related to critical engineering, testing, and integration milestones.
  • Help track deliverables, monitor action items, and facilitate resource allocation.
  • Coordinate effectively with Systems, Software/Controls, and Project Management teams as required.

Testing & Integration Exposure

  • Support preparation activities for system testing and commissioning.
  • Assist with the documentation and tracking of crucial integration milestones.

Hourly Pay Rate:

$20.00 per hour

The posted hourly rate reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Controls, or Software Engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required; VBA is a significant plus).
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidEdge, or similar) is preferred.
  • A basic understanding of automation, PLCs, or control systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a genuine desire to learn and thrive in a fast-paced technical environment.
