Software Engineer Intern | Fizz

The Tone:
This is an internship at Fizz, located in New York City with remote flexibility. Fizz is focused on building best-in-class consumer applications, including an AI money advisor and a proprietary card, with products that consistently reach over 100,000 new users each month. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of these impactful products end-to-end, working within a lean and effective engineering team to significantly influence user growth and product direction.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Feature Development: Develop and ship new features for consumer applications that are actively used by over 100,000 new users monthly.
• Product Contribution: Directly contribute to major products such as our AI money advisor, our card, and other unannounced initiatives.
• Independent Ownership: Take full ownership of development tasks, from initial concept through implementation and deployment.
• Team Collaboration: Work in tandem with our top-tier engineering team, contributing to a collaborative environment while also pursuing independent work streams.
• End-to-End Implementation: Build and deliver best-in-class consumer applications with a focus on end-to-end functionality and user experience.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Demonstrable strong computer science fundamentals, including proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and systems design principles.
• Experience: Proven experience shipping real projects, such as mobile applications, APIs, or development tooling. A strong preference exists for candidates with full-stack experience, including having built APIs and developed for either web or mobile platforms.
• Skills: Strong backend and/or web development skills, with proficiency in Typescript. Experience with React is preferred. Practical experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS/GCP).
• Bonus: Familiarity with AI/LLM basics, such as RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and agents. An interest in potentially converting to a full-time role post-graduation. A strong product sense and a bias for action to prioritize high-impact work. Clear communication and a collaborative approach within a small team environment.
