Entry Level Software Engineer (Infrastructure) | KBR

The Tone:
This is an early career position at KBR, located at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC). KBR is a company of innovators, thinkers, and explorers, dedicated to improving the world responsibly and safely. This role is crucial for supporting the NASA Johnson Space Center’s Simulation Engineering team, where you will contribute to critical training systems and exploration programs. Your work will directly impact the development and maintenance of real-time simulation frameworks essential for space missions.

• Mission: Develop and maintain Training Systems software systems and the Exploration Program’s real-time INFRA framework.
• Tech Stack: C++, Linux, UNIX, Python, real-time INFRA framework, Trick simulation, client-server architecture, Agile software development methods, Linux Kernel programming

What You’ll Actually Do
• Software Builds: Perform simple and complex software builds for various systems.
• Software Integration: Integrate developed software effectively with contributions from other developers.
• Framework Development: Develop and maintain the real-time INFRA framework, encompassing scheduling, messaging, and synchronization software systems.
• Simulation Support: Provide ongoing software development and maintenance for the real-time Trick simulation, supporting International Space Station and Exploration Programs.
• Problem Solving: Apply strong computer programming skills to solve complex technical problems.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with a B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related degree.
• Experience: Demonstrated software development experience using C++ with proficiency in UNIX or Linux environments.
• Skills: Strong C++ software development, Linux and UNIX skills, robust problem-solving, excellent oral and written communication, strong initiative, and teamwork abilities.
• Bonus: Knowledge and experience in Python, Linux Kernel programming, client-server architecture, and Agile software development methods. Candidates with Trick experience will have a significant advantage.
