Overview

As a Costume and Wardrobe Technician, you will be an integral part of our Entertainment Department, responsible for the creation, upkeep, and repair of costumes and wardrobe items for our diverse range of characters, events, and productions. This role demands a blend of technical sewing skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and drying of worn costume pieces, ensuring they are properly stored and organized at the end of each night.
  • Collaborate with Entertainment Management, actively assisting and shadowing in various departmental aspects to broaden skill sets and support overall operations.
  • Execute minor repairs on costumes as required, ensuring the longevity and presentable condition of all wardrobe items.
  • Contribute to the seamless operation of Show Wardrobe, including the efficient distribution of costumes to performers and providing assistance with basic sewing tasks.
  • Uphold a consistently clean and safe environment across all Show Wardrobe areas. This encompasses, but is not limited to, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, restroom cleaning, and meticulous organization of the storage/shop area.
  • Confidently navigate around, on, or within scenic elements associated with specific productions, often in low-light and confined spaces, ensuring preparedness for all show needs.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce all park policies and procedures as detailed in the Seasonal Handbook and the Department Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
  • Promptly report any unsafe acts or conditions to the Show Wardrobe Supervisor to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Proficiently operate both industrial and domestic sewing equipment for various costume tasks.
  • Construct specialized costumes as directed by the Supervisor, contributing to unique character designs and event themes.
  • Provide comprehensive training to new personnel, sharing expertise and ensuring new team members are well-equipped for their roles.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Age: 18 years old.
  • Availability: Must be available to work during afternoon/evening shifts, extending up to 90 minutes after park close.
  • Skills: Basic sewing, costuming, and laundry skills are essential.
  • Work Environment: Must be willing and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions as needed.
  • Personal Attributes: Demonstrates professionalism, self-motivation, the ability to multi-task effectively, and possesses an enthusiastic attitude.
  • Teamwork: Exhibits strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and performers.
