Intern – Project Management/Cost Estimating

Reporting to: Office Director

Salary: $25 an hour

Overview of the Role

Are you a motivated student eager to gain practical experience in project management and cost estimating? RLB is seeking an Intern to work closely with our Project Manager/Cost Estimator. In this dynamic role, you will be an integral part of planned undertakings, contributing to defined goals, work plans, timelines, and implementation strategies designed to meet diverse client needs. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for identifying opportunities within a project that can add significant value and ultimately ensure the successful accomplishment of our clients’ desired project outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Assists the Project Manager/Cost Estimator (PM/CE) in the comprehensive development of project goals, detailed work plans, critical timelines, and effective implementation strategies.
  • Actively participates in revisions and adjustments to project components as needed, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Aids in identifying crucial decision-making issues and key stakeholders, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to foster and secure stakeholder and/or community awareness and support, and identifying potential project partners.
  • Identifies and coordinates effectively with program committees and advisory groups to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Supports in measuring, evaluating, and communicating project performance to relevant parties.
  • Contributes significantly to overall team performance through active collaboration and effective communication channels.
  • Contributes to and maintains a deep understanding of the client’s desired project outcomes, proactively identifying opportunities to add value and ensure these outcomes are successfully accomplished.
  • Adds to the team effort by diligently accomplishing other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Education Required: Enrollment in a 4-year college program in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering Science.
  • Minimum Experience Required: 2+ years of experience gained through educational coursework or relevant work activities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • This role primarily operates within an indoor office environment. Occasional work on site locations may be required when necessary.
  • Equipment used includes computers and standard office machines.
  • Essential physical tasks include: the ability to work comfortably on a computer for extended periods and the ability to answer and speak clearly on a telephone.
