Field Sales and Merchandising Representative | Basemakers
The Tone:
This is a full-time Field Sales and Merchandising Representative role at Basemakers, located in Miami-Dade County, FL. Basemakers is a highly trusted retail sales management company specializing in the food and beverage industry, recognized for its rapid growth and deep commitment to relationship-driven success. This independent yet collaborative position is crucial for enhancing the in-store presence of innovative CPG brands, fostering deep connections with grocery store managers to drive product visibility and sales. You will be instrumental in transforming groundbreaking products into household names within your territory.

• Team: Independent yet collaborative, engaging with grocery store managers, brand representatives, and Basemakers internal teams (Brand Partner Managers, District Managers, Sales Directors).
• Mission: Own and enhance the in-store presence of brand partners through effective merchandising, strategic placements, and strong relationship building with retail staff.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Daily Routes: Operate 100% in the field, commuting daily in your vehicle to visit 6-8 grocery stores such as Whole Foods, Sprouts, Publix, and Fresh Market, managing a route to visit each store 2-3 times a month.
• Own In-Store Presence: Take full responsibility for improving brand presence through display execution, void filling, and securing off-shelf displays and secondary/tertiary placements.
• Build Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with grocery store managers, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor who can identify and address in-store needs and pain points.
• Implement Merchandising: Execute effective shelf management, optimal product positioning, and the strategic placement of racks, equipment, and Point-of-Sale (POS) materials.
• Capture Data and Communicate: Utilize mobile apps (Repsly, Slack, Gmail, Google Workspace) to capture critical in-store data, including photos, notes, and forms, while maintaining clear communication with internal teams and retail partners.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early to Mid-Career level, with previous experience in grocery store operations, route sales, brand ambassadorship, brand vendor sales, merchandising, general retail, or similar territory sales.
• Experience: A proven track record of success in a highly self-directed environment, with the willingness to drive many miles daily in your own vehicle and transport promotional materials. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, current registration, and auto insurance are required.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical, influencing, and negotiation abilities, coupled with excellent communication skills for engaging with various stakeholders and utilizing smartphone apps for team interaction. A positive, driven, detail-oriented mindset with high emotional intelligence, grit, and coachability is essential.
• Bonus: Premium selling skills are preferred, or a strong desire to quickly learn and apply sales techniques. Enthusiasm for representing natural, organic, and specialty food and beverage brands is highly valued, along with a growth mindset and goal-oriented approach.
