The Tone:
This is an early career position at Teak, a fully remote company. Teak is revolutionizing refunds, aiming to make every experience refundable, with a proprietary Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) embedded refund protection platform. This platform offers massive distribution and a top-tier digital purchasing experience for a diverse range of clients, including insurance carriers, event organizers, booking platforms, and ticketing systems, as well as their consumers. The Junior QA Engineer will seamlessly integrate into an existing team, playing a crucial part in performing foundational testing tasks under the guidance of senior QA members to ensure the quality of this critical technology stack.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manual Test Execution: Take ownership of core manual testing tasks by writing and executing basic test cases, performing thorough manual regression testing, and meticulously documenting test execution.
• Test Case Management: Collaborate with Senior QA Engineers or product owners to create and update test cases within TestRail for new features and releases, ensuring accurate alignment with user stories and business requirements.
• Bug Life Cycle Management: Efficiently identify, document, and track bugs in the bug tracking system, working closely with cross-functional teams to gain a deep understanding of the software and verify that fixes are implemented correctly.
• Exploratory & Integration Testing: Assist with exploratory testing on both new and existing features, with a particular focus on partner site testing to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Continuous Learning & Collaboration: Actively learn and experiment with new testing methodologies, explore automation concepts such as Playwright, use AI-assisted tools for enhanced test planning, and communicate test progress in daily stand-ups and sprint ceremonies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical work experience. This is an early career role.
• Experience: No formal QA experience is required. Candidates must be technically curious, eager to learn, and excited to grow in a technology environment.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to think logically and determine comprehensive test cases from a project description; ability to quickly learn and apply new testing methodologies and tools; excellent communication skills for effective collaboration; basic understanding and ability to write code in TypeScript.
• Bonus: Familiarity with manual testing tools and bug tracking systems like JIRA and TestRail; basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies; experience developing with Python and TypeScript; enthusiasm for learning test automation concepts and frameworks like Playwright, and experimenting with AI tools for test planning.
