Graduate Temporary Works Engineer
Arthian is actively seeking a highly motivated Graduate Temporary Works Engineer to become a valuable member of our expanding Temporary Works team, which operates within the broader Civil and Structural Engineering Group. This exceptional opportunity is perfectly suited for a summer 2026 graduate holding a civil or structural engineering degree, eager to launch their career in temporary works design.
Overview
Working under the direct guidance of seasoned engineers, you will acquire invaluable hands-on experience in temporary works design, crucial construction support, and practical engineering problem-solving across a diverse portfolio of projects and sectors. The Role
- Assist with the design of temporary works systems, encompassing elements such as propping, falsework, formwork, access platforms, excavations, and various temporary structures.
- Provide comprehensive support to senior engineers through the preparation of calculations, reports, detailed drawings, and essential technical documentation.
- Actively learn and meticulously apply relevant industry standards, including BS 5975 and Eurocodes.
- Produce clear drawings and practical sketches that translate into constructable design solutions.
- Contribute to site visits, conduct thorough technical inspections, and provide essential on-site support.
- Cultivate a strong understanding of diverse construction methods and project sequencing.
- Assist in the meticulous preparation of design deliverables for both clients and contractors.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with fellow engineers, clients, and contractors.
- Develop expertise in best practices for quality assurance, health & safety compliance, and commercial awareness.
Qualifications
- A degree, or an expected degree, in Civil Engineering or an equivalent related discipline (Bachelors or Masters).
- A strong desire to achieve Professional Qualification with the Institute of Civil Engineers.
