AI/ML Intern | Leidos
The Tone:
This is an internship at Leidos, located remotely. Leidos’s Cyber Accelerator is focused on redefining how to build, validate, and scale next-generation cyber and artificial intelligence capabilities. This role supports crucial Cyber AI projects, moving from initial research and development through to prototype creation and ultimately deploying products to customers. The successful candidate will work alongside experts in machine learning, cybersecurity, and AI.

• Pay: $57850–$104575 yearly
• Team: Works alongside junior and senior engineers and research scientists with expertise in machine learning, cybersecurity, IT, reverse engineering, and Cyber AI.
• Mission: This person supports the design, implementation, and evaluation of AI/ML models, creating prototypes, and enhancing analysis tools for cyber AI projects.
• Tech Stack: Python, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LLM ecosystems (RAG, agentic systems), AWS, Azure
What You’ll Actually Do
• Model Design: Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of AI/ML models for various applications.
• Prototype Creation: Create AI/ML prototypes for various use cases.
• Tool Automation: Enhance and maintain analysis tools, including automation of current processes using AI/ML algorithms.
• Problem Solving: Apply existing knowledge and acquire new skills to help solve complex problems, gaining experience in the development and delivery of solutions to customers.
• Team Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team to design and develop solutions, effectively communicating with engineers and presenting findings for actionable insights.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Engineering or STEM-related degree. Early career.
• Experience: Hands-on software development skills, with Python preferred. Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance, requiring US Citizenship.
• Skills: Understanding of machine learning algorithms, tools, and platforms, including familiarity with NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and LLM ecosystems (RAG, agentic systems). Demonstrated problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience developing production solutions leveraging large language models (LLMs) and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for deploying machine learning models.
