Junior Data Analyst Healthcare Claims & Experimentation

Location: Remote

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Junior Data Analyst to support healthcare claims analytics and experimentation initiatives. This pivotal role focuses on transforming large-scale claims data into actionable insights, supporting A/B testing programs, and developing reliable performance metrics.

The ideal candidate possesses strong SQL skills, hands-on Python experience for statistical analysis, and foundational knowledge of experimentation frameworks. Exposure to healthcare claims data and HIPAA-compliant environments is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Query, clean, and transform large healthcare claims datasets (claim header & line-level).
• Build and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks in BI tools.
• Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests, encompassing:
  • Hypothesis formulation
  • Randomization validation
  • Sample size calculation
  • Statistical test selection
  • Result interpretation & stakeholder presentation
• Develop cohort analyses and experiment measurement frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and data governance standards.
• Document data lineage, assumptions, and metric definitions.
• Partner with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Product Managers on:
  • Data quality validation
  • Experiment implementation
  • Pipeline enhancements

Required Qualifications

• 0-3 years of experience in Data Analytics or a related field.
• Strong SQL proficiency, including joins, aggregations, window functions, and CTEs.
• Demonstrable Python experience for:
  • Data wrangling (using libraries like pandas, numpy)
  • Statistical testing (using libraries like scipy, statsmodels)
• Basic R knowledge (tidyverse or base R).
• Foundational knowledge of:
  • A/B testing methodology
  • Hypothesis testing
  • p-values & confidence intervals
  • Power & sample size calculations
• Understanding of healthcare claims data, including:
  • Member vs Provider concepts
  • Claim header vs line-level data distinctions
  • CPT/ICD codes
• Experience with at least one cloud data warehouse (Preferably Google Cloud Platform/BigQuery).

Nice to Have

• Experience working with Protected Health Information (PHI) and HIPAA-compliant workflows.
• Exposure to healthcare payer systems.
• Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
