Position Summary: Bookkeeper

Location: On-site at our Moore County, NC facility

Kraken Kinetics is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. This role will be crucial in managing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), reconciliations, and various financial reporting tasks. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintain high precision under pressure, and be eager to contribute to the growth and development of our internal finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations, including processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.
• Perform bank and credit card statement reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely financial record-keeping.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports to support leadership and operational decision-making.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to coordinate payroll processes and ensure accurate accounting alignment.
• Assist in the transition of bookkeeping functions from outsourced providers to in-house management.
• Utilize QuickBooks for daily transaction processing, comprehensive reporting, and maintaining data accuracy.
• Support the identification and implementation of process improvements and system enhancements to scale finance operations efficiently.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure strong alignment between finance, operations, and leadership teams.

Qualifications

Required

• 2-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting (startup or small business experience is preferred).
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a high degree of accuracy in all financial work.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines.
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning and a proactive approach to building scalable financial systems.
• Excellent communication skills coupled with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Preferred

• Experience supporting DoD programs or defense contractors.

Salary & Benefits

Kraken Kinetics is committed to offering a competitive compensation package designed to attract and retain top talent. This is a full-time, on-site, non-exempt position with a pay range of $20-$30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
