Mid-Engineering Technician | Serco Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Serco Inc., requiring extensive worldwide travel. Serco supports the Department of Defense (DoD) by performing IT systems modernization for facilities globally, including critical infrastructure installations. As a Mid-Engineering Technician, you will be an integral part of a team dedicated to delivering high-quality electronic security and IT systems for U.S. Army and Navy installations. This role contributes to vital national security infrastructure, working alongside customers and other Serco teams.

• Team: Collaborates closely with a team of programmers, technicians, installers, customers, and other Serco teams.
• Mission: Perform IT systems modernization for Department of Defense facilities worldwide, focusing on critical infrastructure installation and electronic security system maintenance.
• Tech Stack: server equipment racks, IP-based video surveillance cameras, desktop computing systems and peripherals, cabling, rack-mounted equipment, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Access Control Systems (ACS), Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV), video Briefing Display Systems (BDS), CAT 6 cabling, T568B color code standard, RJ45 connectors

What You’ll Actually Do
• Installation: Install critical IT infrastructure, including server equipment racks, IP-based video surveillance cameras, desktop computing systems and peripherals, cabling, and various rack-mounted equipment at U.S. Army Installations globally.
• Testing & Maintenance: Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, adjust and operate equipment, record test data, and identify deviations caused by equipment malfunction or observational errors.
• Data Management: Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data, perform computations, plot data, and verify that test data meets acceptance criteria.
• Cabling & Termination: Perform the installation of CAT 6 cabling and terminate CAT 6 cabling using the T568B color code standard.
• Equipment Handling: Unpack and re-pack equipment for testing and shipment to customer facilities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma/GED. Mid-level engineering technician performing IT systems modernization for DoD facilities.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of related experience. Willingness to travel up to 90% of the time, up to 4 months at a time, including internationally.
• Skills: Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, U.S. Citizenship, ability to obtain a CAC, valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance, familiarity with typical hand and power tools.
• Bonus: Active DoD Secret security clearance, current U.S. passport, general or advanced troubleshooting experience, experience using Digital Multi-meter and power meters, familiarity with wire and cable termination and RJ45 connectors, general knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook), basic understanding of Intrusion Detection Systems, Access Control Systems, CCTV, and Audio Video Installation, fundamental understanding of Server installation and use cases, familiarity with installation of Rack hardware and cabling techniques, general knowledge of low voltage control systems, familiarity with system support components.
