Software Engineering Intern | Symetra

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop Software: Build secure, high-quality, performant, and scalable code using specified programming languages and tools.
• Design Solutions: Assist senior engineers in the design and development of software solutions.
• Ensure Quality: Participate in code reviews, requirements definition, and design walkthroughs to ensure adherence to standards and quality.
• Test and Troubleshoot: Define and perform unit testing, support functional and regression testing efforts, and provide timely resolutions for software issues.
• Learn and Grow: Work closely with senior engineers to enhance technical skills and understanding of software development methodologies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Currently enrolled full-time and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Programming experience with C#. Hands-on experience building systems in one or more cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP). Experience with database technologies.
• Skills: In-depth knowledge of architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling). Knowledge of developer tooling across the SDLC (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations). Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Developing analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Bonus: Experience with other object-oriented languages like Java or Python.
