Entry Level Mechanical Designer / Engineer-in-Training | Stantec

This role is crucial for contributing to the evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered mechanical and plumbing systems, ensuring projects meet strict codes and engineering standards.

• Team: Buildings team, reporting to senior staff/Senior Engineer
• Mission: Evaluate, recommend, and specify engineered systems and products for various project applications, ensuring full compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards.
• Tech Stack: Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, company standard software, proprietary manufacturer software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Design, develop, and optimize mechanical and plumbing components and systems under direction, adhering to engineering principles and industry standards.
• Drafting: Perform Revit design for the mechanical discipline, applying knowledge of relevant software programs.
• Collaboration: Coordinate projects with architectural, interior, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
• Analysis: Perform basic calculations to analyze and design individual building mechanical system components using company standard and proprietary software.
• Interpretation: Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials to support design decisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: Early career professional with a basic understanding of Revit and AutoCAD, and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Skills: Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective communication for team collaboration.
• Bonus: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, familiarity with various construction delivery processes such as Design-Build, and a proactive, inquisitive mindset.
