• Mission: To support the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System while developing skills for potential advancement into Line-work, Substation, Design, or Dispatch areas.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Provide tools, materials, and supplies to journeyman linemen, ensuring efficient workflow.
• Safety: Monitor worksites to ensure strict adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
• Logistics: Drive and maintain company trucks, ensuring they are properly stocked for assignments.
• Operations: Prepare equipment and worksites to facilitate the effective completion of construction tasks.
• Equipment: Operate various types of construction equipment, including diggers and aerial devices.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level position for individuals with a GED or High School diploma, aiming for a career in electrical distribution.
• Experience: Requires a valid Driver’s License and being at least 18 years old. Candidates must obtain a Class A CDL learner’s permit within one month and the full Class A CDL within six months of employment, supported by a strong driving record. Adherence to a 290-pound weight restriction is also required.
• Skills: Demonstrated physical capability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly, carry 60 pounds, and work on ladders and hydraulic lifts. Must have the aptitude to learn to operate construction equipment and hand tools, along with basic computer application skills. The role demands working outdoors in all weather conditions, involves heavy labor, and requires the ability to respond promptly for emergency overtime callouts and electrical restorations.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include holding a Class A or B CDL (or permit), OSHA 10 or 30 certification, CPR/First Aid/AED certification, and prior experience in mechanical or electrical concepts, construction, military service, or outdoor work environments.
