Data Center Technician | Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at Company, located in Tucson, US. In this position, you will be instrumental in supporting mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities. Your expertise will ensure the continuous operation and reliability of vital systems, directly contributing to the foundational support of critical services. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Data Center Technician to join our team.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time permanent position
• Location: Tucson, AZ
• Mission: Own the on-site operational support, installation, and maintenance of mission-critical data center hardware and infrastructure.
• Tech Stack: Screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment, Dell servers, HP servers, Supermicro servers, Cat5e/6/6a cabling, single-mode fiber, multi-mode fiber, DCIM systems, ticketing systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Install and manage hardware: Perform installations, decommissions, and migrations of data center hardware, including server racking, stacking, and labeling.
• Execute structured cabling: Implement and maintain structured cabling systems for both copper and fiber optic connections.
• Manage network links: Perform cross-connects and patch panel work to establish and maintain network connectivity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues: Diagnose and resolve connectivity and various hardware issues within the data center environment.
• Document and coordinate: Document all operational work thoroughly with photos and detailed notes, and coordinate effectively with remote NOC and client teams.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Mid-career professional with foundational knowledge in data center operations or IT infrastructure.
• Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in data center or IT infrastructure roles, including work with server hardware from vendors like Dell, HP, and Supermicro.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in structured cabling (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber), effective troubleshooting of connectivity and hardware issues, and professional communication skills in English.
• Bonus: Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar), network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+), experience with DCIM and ticketing systems, and familiarity with major colocation providers.
