Early Career Software Engineer
Job Summary
Trexquant is seeking an Early Career Software Engineer with robust programming skills to join its dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with experienced engineers and quantitative researchers to develop the essential infrastructure that powers systematic trading. This includes vital components such as data pipelines, backtesting tools, and execution systems. You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to greenfield development projects, helping to build new systems from the ground up and driving innovation and scalability within Trexquant’s technology stack.
Responsibilities
- Full lifecycle development of low-latency, high-throughput research and trading systems utilizing C++, C, Java, or Rust.
- Build and optimize data processing pipelines to ensure reliable access to large, high-quality datasets.
- Assist in developing tools for backtesting, model training, and strategy evaluation.
- Collaborate with researchers and traders to deliver technical solutions that enhance research productivity and trading performance.
- Participate actively in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold high-quality standards.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and best practices, continuously bringing innovative ideas to improve existing systems.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C++, C, Python, Java, or Rust.
- Familiarity with Linux environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly in a collaborative team setting.

Location & Compensation
Applications are currently open for both the Stamford and New York City offices. Please note that the New York City office has a planned opening in October 2026.
The base salary range for this position is $130,000 – $175,000, with the exact amount depending on the candidate’s educational background and professional experience. Base salary is only one component of Trexquant’s total compensation package, which may also include a discretionary, performance-based bonus. This position is classified as overtime-exempt.
