Role: Associate in Insurance Coverage Group

This position is for a motivated attorney with 0+ years of experience to join the dynamic Insurance Coverage/Coverage Litigation team in our Valhalla, NY office. This hybrid role offers a blend of in-office and remote work.

About the Role

As a Junior Coverage Associate, you will be responsible for representing international and domestic insurers in complex insurance and coverage litigation matters. This involves a wide array of liability policies, including:

  • Management Liability (D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime)
  • Cyber Insurance
  • Professional Liability
  • Financial Institutions
  • Commercial General Liability (CGL)

We are seeking a bright, highly motivated, and proactive attorney with excellent writing skills. The ideal candidate will possess the willingness and capability to act independently and be comfortable with direct client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute litigation strategies for complex insurance coverage disputes.
  • Play a key role in all aspects of insurance coverage litigation and arbitration.
  • Conduct rigorous legal research and analysis, preparing comprehensive memoranda and position letters.
  • Analyze intricate insurance policies, draft detailed analyses of coverage issues, and provide strategic coverage advice and recommendations to clients.
  • Supervise and actively participate in the mediation and settlement processes of underlying litigations globally.
  • Draft and meticulously review pleadings, legal memoranda, briefs, interrogatories, and other essential legal correspondence and litigation documents.
  • Participate in depositions, document reviews, conferences, and all stages of coverage litigations and arbitrations.
  • Collaborate effectively and cooperatively with colleagues and team members.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Admission to practice in New York is mandatory.
  • 0+ years of law firm or insurance company experience.
  • Experience in commercial litigation or in-house experience with liability insurance policies is a definite plus.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Solid and consistent work history.

  • Demonstrated strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Adept at identifying problems quickly and implementing effective resolutions.

The anticipated annual pay range for this role is $105,000 – $125,000. This range represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary at the time of posting. In addition, this position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual compensation offered will be determined by job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and considerations of internal equity.
