The Tone:
This is an early career role at Amentum, located in Dahlgren, VA. Amentum supports critical Naval projects, specializing in software development and integration for significant DoD weapons and sensor systems. This position is vital for modernizing the Navy and directly contributing to mission success by tackling complex Digital Engineering challenges.

• Team: Expanding systems and software engineering team, collaborating with a Senior Amentum developer.
• Mission: Support critical C++ or C software development and integration for significant Naval projects, including the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system, to modernize the Navy and ensure mission success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Conduct C++ and/or C software development specifically for the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system in support of Naval projects.
• Collaborate: Work closely with a Senior Amentum developer, adhering to Agile development principles.
• Analyze: Perform thorough analysis and problem-solving techniques for professional scientific and engineering work.
• Teamwork: Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within established teams and across various organizations to achieve defined goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or an applicable technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 0-5 years of experience in software development; must possess an Active SECRET US Government Clearance and a valid Real ID driver’s license with access to reliable transportation for local travel.
• Skills: Proficiency in C++ or C programming languages, familiarity with Agile Development methodologies, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Familiarity with QT or Motif.
