Engineer in Training (EIT) | Luminant Power LLC
The Tone:
This is an Engineer in Training (EIT) program at Luminant Power LLC, located in Moss Landing, California. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Moss Landing, CA (In-person)
• Mission: Provide engineering support to ensure reliability, availability, efficiency, and functionality of all equipment, processes, and projects.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD or similar systems
What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Interface directly with engineering staff, operations and maintenance groups, and other Luminant personnel to implement consistent, practical, and effective engineering solutions across the facility.
• Develop: Participate fully in the structured EIT Program, rotating through key operational areas such as Safety, Operations, Maintenance, Instrumentation & Control, Reliability, and Chemical/Environmental, to build a comprehensive working knowledge of the plant.
• Manage: Take ownership of and execute various assigned engineering projects, contributing to tangible improvements in plant processes and infrastructure.
• Ensure: Uphold a safe working environment by strictly adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
• Adapt: Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and autonomously within a fast-paced operational setting.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This role is for an early career professional who is a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, currently enrolled in a 4-year institution of higher education and actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master’s Degree in a desired engineering discipline. Applicants must be in good academic standing with their university, and official transcripts will be required prior to the start date.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency in widely used Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is essential. Candidates must also be proficient in using AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design systems for engineering tasks.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical for effective interaction with diverse teams and stakeholders. The ability to work independently on assigned projects and operate effectively within a fast-paced environment are also key requirements for success in this role.
• Bonus: Desired qualifications include proficiency with Microsoft Access, along with proven presentation skills to effectively communicate technical information and project outcomes.
